Intracellular Ice Formation of Mouse Osteoblasts During Cryopreservation
Intracellular ice formation(IIF)is one of the factors that causes cell damage during cryopreservation pro-cess.The study of IIF will provide fundamental information for the development of appropriate cryopreservation proto-cols.The possibility of IIF at various cooling rates for mouse osteoblasts was studied by using a cryomicoscopy sys-tem.The water transportation and ice nucleation parameters were used in the coupled water transport.ice nucleation model to predict the probability of IIF over a wide range of cooling rates. The calculated probability of IIF was in good agreement with the experimental data
suggesting the validity of the predicted parameters.
