Numerical Simulation on Laminar Convection of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide in Horizontal Triangular Mini Ducts
Laminar mixed convective heat transfer of supercritical CO_2 in a horizontal mini duct with an equilateral triangular cross section was investigated numerically. The flow patterns and isotherms in the duct with a hydraulic diameter of 0.5 mm
under cooling condition
with and without gravity
were obtained. The local Nusselt numbers were also presented. The results suggest that the effects of buoyancy force
variable physical properties of the fluid
and duct geometric characteristic on flow and heat transfer can be very significant. The results of this work are helpful for the design and optimization of the high efficiency compact supercritical carbon dioxide heat exchangers.
